March Adams has provided various engineering design services for a wide range of educational facilities that include elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, colleges, and universities. These facilities required engineering design for classrooms, dormitories, gymnasiums, parking lots, sports facilities, science labs, and music halls.
March Adams provided full engineering services for the university’s new dormitory and adjacent tennis facility. The Dormitory includes seven floors of student rooms, outdoor plaza area, and three levels of parking in a connected parking structure. The Tennis Facility includes a new building with locker rooms, offices, and connected viewing stands, as well as six tennis courts.
March Adams provided civil engineering services for the new elementary school including a 252-space parking lot and drop-off/pick-up lanes for increased vehicle queuing. The prior school had issues with traffic queuing onto the public street, which was solved with the new site layout. As a model project for the upcoming Hamilton County Stormwater Ordinance chances, low-impact stormwater management features include bioretention areas and chambers with gravel infiltration beds to maintain functional lawn areas for students, while reducing both peak rate and volume of runoff to the flood-prone areas downstream.
March Adams provided the engineering design for the renovation of the 4- story Fine Arts Building at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. The project included 85,000 square feet of renovation with art classrooms, two theaters, a scene shop, costume shop/storage, dressing rooms, property storage, sculpture shop, woodworking shop, welding shop, and an art gallery.
March Adams provided the engineering design for the renovation of UTC’s Lupton Library for student activities, classrooms, and offices. The project is a 3-story building with 120,000 square feet of renovation space and 2 parking levels below. The project also included the addition of an elevator and stair tower founded on deep foundations to avoid settlement with the adjacent structure.
