Structural Engineering

The Structural Engineering Department at March Adams offers cost effective structural design services for commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities. Our staff uses advanced computer aided engineering design tools such as ENERCALC, RISA 3d, and Revit, to provide innovative solutions to unique structural challenges. 

March Adams has experience in all areas of structural design, including concrete, steel, masonry, timber and pre-cast.  The company provides design services for new construction and analyzes existing facilities requiring re-engineering or modernization.  March Adams has an industrial structural department that provides services for existing plants requiring upgrades, rehabilitation, and/or structural modifications for new equipment supports and mezzanines, as well as repurposing existing structures.

Shaw Plant VT

Ringgold,GA

March Adams provided structural engineering services for Shaw’s Plant RP Renovation and Expansion located in Ringgold, GA. The project includes a 24,000 square foot, 120-foot tall building addition and renovation of approximately 315,000 square feet of warehouse to include pipe supports, offices, multiple mezzanines, removal of columns, and crane/monorail additions.

Tennessee Aquarium Construction

Chattanooga, TN

The construction of one of several aquariums, highlights the ability for March Adams to combine the mechanical, structural and electrical disciplines with specialized corrosion resistant life support equipment.  Confined spaces required creative arrangements that allowed for reduced construction costs, provided for lift truck access during normal operations, gave consideration to maintenance clearances and yet provided room for future growth and modification.

UTC West Campus Housing Structural

Chattanooga, TN

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga needed more on-campus housing for its growing student population.  This new facility occupying nearly 100,000 square feet of land includes 680 parking spaces on three levels, 209,000 square feet of residential space for 600 students on seven floors, and a 20,000 square foot mechanical penthouse.  The post-tension concrete building with concrete shear walls is designed as a durable building that will serve UTC for decades into the future.
